Introduction

Radium Hot Springs (pop. 775) is an idillic mountain village located west of Kootenay National Park which provides a grand welcome to the Columbia River Valley. Drive past the famous hot springs and mineral pools to sweeping vistas of the Columbia River and Purcell Mountains. Radium is a short three-hour drive from Calgary through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

This area is the home of four-seasons fun and activities. The village features a diverse range of accommodations and restaurants from five-star experiences to delicious take-out food perfect for picnics. There is a luxury golf resort with family suites, RV campgrounds, and a selection of clean and friendly motels to choose from. If you like camping, the wilderness is yours to discover or perhaps you would prefer a tent cabin on Redstreak Mountain overlooking the valley below.

There are two world-class golf courses set among the Rocky Mountain peaks that have challenging fairways for experienced golfers and are fun for beginners as well. Try the practice area – it’s one of the best anywhere. Relax at a spa, take a massage, or bathe in the famous hot springs surrounded by pines and wildlife.

There are lots of things to do in Radium like fishing, hiking, and boating. Adventurous activities such as guided horseback or ATV trailriding, paragliding, are favourite pasttimes of locals and visitors alike. If mountain biking is your sport, take the Panoarama Mountain chairlift to the top of the ski hill and ride down one of the many trails to the bottom. There are trails for beginners and expert trail-riders.

In winter, Radium becomes the centre of attention with four ski resorts within a short drive. Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, Kimberly Alpine Resort, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, and Panorama Mountain Resort provide a full season of fun and activities. Ski the fresh powder on the slopes or by helicopter into the backcountry. Our style of snowmobiling is steep and deep! In summer, free music is everywhere and the Columbia Valley car show draws people from the Northwest to show off their rides.
