Introduction

Fairmont Hot Springs (pop. 475) is a destination resort community located a few minutes north of Columbia Lake. The area is well known for its hot springs which are the result of a geological formation that sends heated water from deep underground to pools and springs on the surface.

The mix of warm summers and snowy winters means the Columbia Valley is a major tourist attraction for visitors from Calgary, Vancouver, and Montana. Whether you like to ski, mountain bike, golf, or just relax in the mineral hot springs, Fairmont has everything you’re looking for. There are three golf courses nearby: Mountainside, Riverside, and Creekside with challenging terrain for all levels of experience. In the winter, the local ski hill opens, providing fun for the whole family with a double-chair and two t-bars servicing 13 runs. If you like cross-country skiing, this area is a paradise with hundreds of kilometers of trails for you to discover.

Shopping and amenities cater to the year round residents and the influx of tourists that arrive every year. There is a small strip mall, restaurants, gift shops, and of course the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort with 10,000 sqft of hot water soaking and swimming 12 months of the year. If you like camping, there are a number of RV and campgrounds that have amenities.
